Credentials :

Current valid license by the State of Tennessee Department of Health Board of Nursing

Qualifications :

Must hold a current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

CPR and First Aid certification required.

Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Role Summary : The School Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellness of students in a school-based setting. This position is staffed exclusively by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who provide direct care, health education, and support for students, staff, and families. The nurse works collaboratively with school personnel to promote a safe and healthy learning environment.

Reports directly to the Supervisor of Health Services and School Principal

Key Responsibilities :

• Specialized Skills & Expectations
• Must be able to emotionally and physically support students with various disabilities, including but not limited to :

Cerebral palsy

Flexibility in adapting to changing situations and work orders

Work in a variety of school settings, often with frequent distractions and interruptions

The employee must have the physical strength to independently lift and transfer children up to 50 pounds and assist with those over 50 pounds.

Terms of Employment : Salary and benefits recommended by the Finance and Administrative Service Director and approved by the Director of Schools; 200-day calendar. Non-exempt.
