Are you a skilled cook with a passion for preparing delicious and nutritious meals for young children? Do you have a valid Food Handler's License and experience working in a foodservice program? If so, we'd love to hear from you! As a leading full-service child care and early education provider in the Bronx and Brooklyn, Beanstalk Academy is seeking a talented Food Handler to join our team.
About the Role:
As a Food Handler at Beanstalk Academy, you will be responsible for preparing healthy and well-balanced meals and snacks for our children. You will ensure that the kitchen and eating area are maintained in accordance with New York City Department of Health standards. You will also have the opportunity to work with our dedicated teachers and staff to provide a nurturing and supportive childcare experience.
Responsibilities:
Prepare delicious and nutritious meals and snacks for children
Manage the foodservice program and kitchen, including ordering food and supplies
Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to New York City Department of Health standards
Lead by example, demonstrating a professional approach and a positive attitude
Work with our team to provide a nurturing and supportive childcare experience
Possess excellent cooking skills and a passion for healthy eating
Familiarity with CACFP nutrition guidelines is considered a plus
Qualifications:
Must hold a valid Food Handler's License
2 years' experience working as a cook
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
