Mainframe z / OS Systems Programmer

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Mainframe z / OS Systems Programmer. This will be a hybrid position, and the office will be in Manhattan, NY. Candidates must be able to work a minimum of 3 days onsite in Manhattan, NY.

Position : The Mainframe z / OS Systems Programmer will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and administration of the mainframe z / OS operating system, accompanying storage systems, and systems software products. The candidate will also support UNIX Systems Services and provide off-hour production coverage and periodic weekend implementations.

MANDATORY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of experience in a relevant technical field.

Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

10+ years of experience working with z / OS, JES2, SMP / E, TSO, IOCP / HCD, basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.), program product installations, IBM virtual tape system, and Unix System Services.

Experience with VTAM and TCP / IP.

Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing.

Experience using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.

Experience working with enterprise-wide, large-scale implementations.

Experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer consultant.

SCOPE OF SERVICES :

Perform ongoing maintenance of the mainframe z / OS operating system, storage systems, and systems software products.

Upgrade mainframe and related storage systems.

Provide off-hour production coverage and support for periodic weekend implementations.

Utilize VTAM and TCP / IP for network management.

Implement and manage JES2, SMP / E, TSO, IOCP / HCD, and basic IBM utilities.

Install program products and manage IBM virtual tape system and Unix System Services.

Use monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON to oversee system performance.

Collaborate with teams on enterprise-wide, large-scale implementations.

Document all processes and changes effectively.
