JOB SUMMARY : Plans, develops and manages a focused program to cultivate, solicit and steward a selected list of major gift prospects targeted for $10,- $1,, gifts for agency initiatives. Collaborates with other team members on cultivation and stewardship of annual donors with the intent to grow donors into major giving prospects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Works with the Director of Philanthropy to formulate and execute annual plans and strategies for achieving the agency’s major gift goals.
- Plans, develops and oversees the implementation of individual strategies for donors making gifts at the $10, to $1,, + and higher levels.
- Manages a portfolio of + major gift prospects, developing and implementing plans for cultivation and solicitation of these prospects in collaboration with board members, appropriate volunteers, agency directors and development staff.
- Develops a portfolio of potential Planned Giving and Legacy Giving prospects by identifying and implementing plans for cultivation and solicitation of these prospects in collaboration with board members, appropriate volunteers, agency directors and development staff.
- Conducts face to face meetings with donors monthly according to agreed upon goals which move the relationship and gift conversation for major gifts and planned gifts.
- Uses moves management process for tracking the cultivation and solicitation of gifts relative to all initiatives, including strategy, gift level, solicitation time frame, and records results in Raiser’s Edge.
- Orchestrates appointments, either for personal solicitation or for volunteers and / or board members to meet with prospects for cultivation of major gifts and planned gifts.
- Actively expands the prospective donor base through prospect identification and research.
- Responsible for raising a specific dollar goal as agreed upon with the Director of Philanthropy.
- Directs acknowledgement of major donors by board and staff, as appropriate.
- Collaborates with annual fund team for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors, especially stewardship efforts and recognition with the Donor Development Officer and the Hope Society.
- Prepares reports and follow up with Board members, and others relative to status of fundraising initiatives, pending appointments and all communications with prospects.
- Works as a development team member to promote positive work environment and assists with special events, volunteer cultivation opportunities and refers leads to the Other Philanthropy Team members, including annual giving, Hope Society, and planned giving.
- Assists in planning and execution of future Capital Campaigns with Philanthropy Leadership Team
- Coordinate monthly major gifts meetings to ensure all staff involved in direct fundraising are engaged and on track to meet their individual fundraising goals; provide direction / guidance for moves management; assign and manage portfolios for direct fundraising staff.
- Assists in planning and coordination of donor stewardship, cultivation and recognition events, receptions, and activities to promote donor engagement.
- Assists in planning and creation of donor development materials, documents, proposals and printed collateral to promote donor development.
- Represents the Agency in external meetings, seminars and programs.
- Monitors aspects of the budget related to assigned activities.
- Participates in management meetings, agency events and other activities within the general scope and nature of position.
- Supervise and manage assigned staff, when relevant, in accordance with agency personnel practices including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, guidance, etc.
- Participate in the process of ongoing personal and professional development.
- Maintain comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external).
- Model professional standards and ethics in accordance with agency philosophy.
- Participate in and support PQI initiatives to include attending appropriate program leadership meetings and attending all relevant PQI meetings to ensure organization-wide involvement in PQI and the development of program performance measurements. Supervisors must also develop and provide appropriate staff training and support the recognition of accomplishments relative to PQI.
- Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.
- Performs other development duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
1. Education / Background : Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business or related field and / or completion of a fundraising certification program. CFRE – Certified Fund Raising Executive certification preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible fund raising experience in a non-profit organization and managing and engaging volunteers and donors.
2. Job Knowledge : Commitment to the agency’s mission. Demonstrated experience with Major Gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Achievement oriented. Proficiency in computer usage, including MS Office Suite, Adobe creative suite and Google suite of products. Knowledge and experience with Raiser’s Edge (preferred) or similar fundraising database software. Ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents
3. Working Conditions / Physical Demands : Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps. Must be able to visually and auditory interact with clients and staff. Ability to work at a desk for extended periods of time. Requires work outside of the office and some travel within the state. Requires some evening and weekend work on occasion. May lift up to 10 pounds.
4. Other requirements :
a. Valid AZ driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration / insurance.
b. Must be at least 21 years of age.
c. Level One Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance.
The position is hybrid. With the option to work out of the Philanthropy team office, this role is expected to be externally facing regularly meeting donors and attending community events as appropriate.
