We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description :

Arcadis is seeking an Entry Level Water Management Engineer, with knowledge of riverine and coastal modeling, to join our Water Management team and support flood resiliency projects nationwide. The position may be located in any of our US office locations, with a preference for New York City, Denver or San Francisco.

We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we're feeling the effects climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we're seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. We are here to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations.

Role accountabilities :

As an Entry Level Water Management Engineer you will be responsible for developing computer models using simulation software to analyze various flow conditions and geographies. You will utilize GIS and MATLAB to manipulate bathymetry, topography, and other datasets to support project requirements. Collaborating with design teams, you will generate flooding, flow, and wave conditions necessary for design projects.

Additionally, you will play a key role in creating reports, presentations, and audio-visual materials, participating in client meetings to present findings and recommendations. Using digital tools like SharePoint and PowerBI, you will facilitate team and client collaboration, ensuring seamless communication and project progress. Some travel (up to 10%) may be required for client meetings, site visits, and team collaborations to further enhance your project involvement and professional growth.

Desired knowledge / experience :

Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to hydrology, hydrodynamics, and climate change is preferred. Some experience or exposure to modeling software's such as HEC-RAS, Delft3D, and MATLAB is helpful for this position. Prior experience or coursework in watershed hydrology, riverine flow, runoff and stormwater, green infrastructure, and climate resiliency is a plus.

Additional key traits for this role include :

  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, work ethic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with documenting technical findings in written reports, technical memos, and presentations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team.
  • Flexible attitude towards assignments, with the initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly.

Qualifications & Experience :

Required Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study.
  • EIT or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with hydrodynamic and wave numerical models (for example; HEC-RAS, ADCIRC, DELFT3D, SWAN).
  • Coding experience (in Python, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Experience using GIS platforms.
  • Prior work / internship experience at a design or consulting engineering firm or municipal work environment.
  • Why Arcadis?
