This position requires a highly skilled Project Manager with engineering theory and technical skills who can provide support for manufacturing activities. As a key member of the manufacturing function, you will be responsible for breaking down complex projects into a series of manageable and well-defined tasks that can be controlled and monitored to ensure the project's objectives and deliverables are achieved.

Responsibilities :

  • The ability to create layouts, drawings, and sketches, including tooling layouts and scale layouts, using drafting equipment or a computer-aided design program.
  • A thorough understanding of the project's requirements and expectations is necessary.
  • Establish the objectives, guidelines, deliverables, and metrics of the project.
  • Meet submission deadlines by identifying required submittals from the customer.
  • Establish a project schedule.
  • The ability to plan, estimate, and / or schedule shop activities.
  • Preparation and submission of purchase orders for raw materials, hardware, outside processes, etc.
  • Identify areas for improvement in terms of quality, cost, or efficiency.
  • Monitor and measure manufacturing processes to identify ways to reduce losses, decrease time requirements, or improve quality.
  • Maintain compliance with safety practices and rules.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • A minimum of three to five years' experience in manufacturing is required. Experience in a machine shop or job shop would be advantageous.
  • A degree in manufacturing engineering or significant experience in manufacturing engineering is required.
  • Having a thorough understanding of machine tools, their uses, capabilities, and work holding techniques is essential.
  • The ability to produce precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and 3D computer-aided design models by using the principles, tools, and techniques involved in the process.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, manufacturing processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques that can be used to maximize the efficiency of manufacturing and distribution.
  • An understanding of and ability to apply management principles to the areas of strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and resource coordination.
  • The ability to understand the capabilities of most machine tools is essential.
  • A knowledge of ASME, ASTM, MIL, and ANSI codes would be advantageous.
  • The ability to use SolidWorks proficiently will be an asset to the position.
  • An understanding of the use of Microsoft office products, particularly Excel and Project, is essential.
  • To be successful, you must possess a strong sense of organization and effective communication skills.
  • Possessing a PMP license or certification is a plus.
  • A Project Manager is expected to provide creative solutions to complex manufacturing and machining challenges on a daily basis. Creating the finished product requires the Project Manager to effectively coordinate with a variety of manufacturing disciplines.
