JOB SUMMARY : This position will be responsible for communications and public relations initiatives supporting BioCryst's research and development efforts and growing pipeline. This includes providing external and internal support for clinical program updates, data announcements, scientific communications, disease awareness efforts, scientific / medical congress support and related internal education and communications. #LI-Remote ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : Develop and execute communications strategies that support the company's research and development (R&D) activities and pipeline, and the business objectives of the R&D and Medical Affairs teams (collectively known as RDMA). Lead cross-functional pipeline communications sub-teams to identify external and internal opportunities to increase awareness of the company's pipeline, R&D strategy and scientific approach, and enhance the profiles of key RDMA leaders. Support creation of communications and related assets intended for both internal and external audiences to highlight the company's pipeline, including educational content about clinical programs and relevant milestones, data readouts, presentations and the company's presence at scientific / medical congresses, study designs / initiations and regulatory actions. Partner with Global Medical Communications lead to develop scientific materials, which may include but are not limited to : Q&A / key message documents, program and scientific narratives, press releases, communications plans, fact sheets, infographics, MOA videos and supplemental content to highlight manuscripts / peer-reviewed publications. Collaborate with Corporate Communications colleagues on various external and internal communications activities involving RDMA leaders, including preparing key messages / talking points, executing earned and contributed media activities and speaking opportunities, and providing ongoing communications counsel. Work with Corporate Communications and Investor Relations colleagues to integrate RDMA-related initiatives into broader corporate communications efforts, including quarterly earnings announcements. Lead planning and execution of monthly RDMA Town Hall meetings, working closely with RDMA leadership and staffing meetings onsite at company's Discovery Center of Excellence in Birmingham, AL. Work with internal stakeholders in other functional groups to ensure consistent and accurate messages and language about the company's pipeline are used in materials. Partner with Clinical Operations and cross-functional teams to support global clinical trial recruitment efforts, guiding strategy and materials development, as needed. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS : A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or life sciences field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 6-8 years of experience in a pharmaceutical / healthcare scientific communications or marketing role. Deep understanding of the drug development process and prior experience in the life sciences industry (either public relations agency or in-house biopharmaceutical company) strongly preferred. Strong communicator and comfort working across all levels of an organization. Ability to work closely and collaboratively with senior leaders across a global organization, including with colleagues across Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, R&D, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Patient Engagement, and with key external stakeholders. Strong initiative and ability to multitask and set priorities - and have fun while doing it! A sense of humor and team player a must. Strong experience with Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office suite.
