Job description

Commitment and Career Growth * Comprehensive Benefits * Work-Life Balance * Community

At Nordic Ware we have a passion for creating innovative, high quality, American-made kitchenware. We benefit from a collaborative, connected, value-driven culture. For 75+ years our products have enhanced food preparation and brought people together at tables around the world. Our employees take pride in the products we make, and many choose a lifetime career here. Come join us!

As a Master Electrician, you'll play a critical role within the Maintenance department-obtaining electrical permits, installing and maintaining electrical equipment, and ensuring full compliance with electrical codes. If you enjoy tackling something new each day, this position may be an excellent fit. In this role, you will also assist and train the Journeyman Electrician. You'll collaborate closely with teammates across Maintenance and Production in a dynamic, hands-on environment to minimize downtime and support overall operational goals.

Are you looking for position where you don't have to travel for hours between jobs or sites? In this position, you won't have to travel outside Saint Louis Park, work is all done on one site, and there is no mandatory OT. This isn't a repetitive, same‑thing‑every‑day job. If you're an electrician who thrives on variety, problem‑solving, and hands-on technical work, you'll feel right at home here.

What you will get to do:

  • Apply current Minnesota adopted National Electrical Code (NFPA) 70 rules and regulations to all new installations and altered electrical circuits and equipment as required by code and the AHJ.
  • Acquire the proper electrical permits for new electrical installations and ensure inspections have been completed in a timely manner.
  • Assure new electrical installations meet all current Minnesota adopted NFPA 70 requirements and standards.
  • Fully engage in reviewing, planning and installation of new equipment that requires electrical service, auxiliary power circuits and emergency or other lighting requirements.
  • Take responsibility for all electrical equipment maintenance such as switchgear PM programs which includes obtaining quotes for testing, replacing, and upgrading equipment as needed or suggested by Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance (NFPA) 70B standards.
  • Take responsibility for safety-related work practices to be implemented to prevent electric shock or other injuries resulting from either direct or indirect electrical contacts when work is performed near or on equipment or circuits which are or may be energized.
  • Schedule and maintain Arc Flash surveys for all facility locations. Verify all labeling is kept up to date, reviewed on an annual basis, and is in compliance with NFPA 70E standards.
  • Take responsibility for all emergency and back-up generator operations, maintenance, and testing of equipment for proper and reliable functionality.
  • Ensure the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and other electrical supplies to operate the building, including preparing and submitting purchase orders requests, developing sources for stock materials, and performing periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions.
  • Oversee the activities of electrical contractors working within the facility.
  • Identify electrical safety hazards within buildings and escalate remediation to ensure employees work in a safe environment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory laws and guidelines related to the operation of the facility's electrical infrastructure. Alert management to discrepancies.
  • Maintain all building electrical infrastructure and compliance documentation including up-to-date facility one-line drawings of all panel boards, transformers, power distribution panels, feeder circuits, and other related electrical systems.
  • Continually review, plan and implement electrical equipment upgrades and replacements which include facility lighting, power distribution buss ducts, panelboards, disconnect switches, general equipment and production equipment control panel safety circuits and other facility and production equipment electrical systems and components.
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and provide testing as needed on all electrical equipment such as transformers, control panels, switchboards, junction boxes, conduit, equipment control devices, and other electrical equipment as assigned.
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair control panels and wire and/or repair lighting systems, install circuit breakers, replace motors, and other production equipment drive related components.
  • Make repairs to production equipment and electrical components such as motors, and starting and control devices, or other faulty components.
  • Utilize wiring diagrams to diagnose electrical problems and to plan and establish safe work procedures.
  • Document and update equipment and facility wiring diagrams to reflect changes or modifications to equipment and systems.
  • Perform Infrared survey on facility and production equipment electrical systems and provide documentation of such.
  • Repair in a timely manner all discrepancies found during Infrared Survey.
  • Provide regular work instructions, train and assist other electricians to obtain higher license levels.
  • Work collaboratively with production and maintenance managers and supervisors to identify improvement opportunities in efficiency and to ensure company goals are achieved.
  • Comply with plant safety rules, policies and regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • A valid Minnesota Class A Master Electrician License for the entire duration of employment
  • 7+ years of electrical experience
  • 5+ years working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Graduate of an accredited vocational institution preferred.
  • Proven skills working with switchboards, junction boxes, switches, control panels, components, circuit breakers, motors and wiring
  • Proven skills working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), switchgears, infrared and arc flash surveys, and high voltage (up to 13.8kV)
  • Knowledge of UL Listing/Certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, comfortable communicating and working effectively with others.
  • Experience leading projects utilizing both internal resources and outside vendors or contractors.
  • Experience leading, training and mentoring other electricians.
