Job Summary :
The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and expertise in Navy Surface Ship Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul processes and programs. The role involves Messing and Berthing Barge Monitoring, Assessment, and Sustainment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in afloat repair processes and excellent soft skills for successful collaboration and staff work.
Responsibilities include but not limited to :
Conduct monthly barge walkthroughs at various maintenance availability locations.
Conduct turnover inspections and Material Condition Assessment Processes (MCAP) for large and small barges.
Support triennial Board of Inspection & Survey (INSURV) assessments for all barges.
Support messing and berthing barge Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and Digital Trouble Log (DTL) management.
Conduct biweekly material inspections of US Fleet Forces Flag barge - log and monitor discrepancies, coordinate resolution.
Assist in producing / updating quarterly berthing barge schedule as assigned.
Assist in developing, managing, monitoring, and reporting barge maintenance and modernization efforts.
Assist in program process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Maintain Current Ship's Maintenance Project (CSMP).
Audit Weekly, Monthly, Annual and Semi-Annual Checklists.
Assist Barge Crew with locating parts and coordinating services.
Ensure Mandatory Certifications are Maintained.
Facilitate meetings with large groups, create meeting agendas and minutes, and lead outreach communications efforts such as newsletters and email updates.
Utilize technical skills associated with outcome-based Navy maintenance processes.
Collaborate effectively with echelon I, II, and III commands, demonstrating an understanding of Navy organizations and working relationships.
Maintain proficiency in information technology software such as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Minimum Qualifications :
At least ten (10) years of recent experience in Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot maintenance of U.S. Navy ships / submarines. Prior INSURV, Shipyard / Regional Maintenance Center, and / or Flag Stagg experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications :
Previous experience in afloat leadership positions
Afloat maintenance at the O, I, or D level
Understanding of US Navy ship maintenance phases, infrastructure and processes to include Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP)
Knowledge of US Navy material condition assessment processes (safety, maintenance standards, inspections and surveys - INSURV)
Able to clearly identify discrepancies and have the ability to draft, edit, proofread, and provide corrective action recommendations in accordance with US Navy policy and procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing requirements
Clearance Requirements :
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance before starting the position.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
Occasional movement within the office for communication and accessing resources.
Ability to transit within a Navy ship or berthing barge and access any space or location.
Regular local travel to Norfolk area ship repair facilities.
Infrequent out of local area travel.
