Role description :

Our growing team in California is seeking an experienced Water and Wastewater Mechanical Engineer to join our California Water Business. As part of this role, you will collaborate within a strong and supportive team environment to deliver innovative solutions for our clients.

Arcadis serves a variety of municipal and private sector clients in many market sectors. We combine technical expertise, a passion to serve, and a willingness to be adaptable in every project to serve our clients. You will bring your expertise to a variety of project types ranging from large municipal water / wastewater treatment facility upgrades projects to local system upgrades and feasibility studies. This role sits within our global Resilience business area.

Role accountabilities :

  • Lead mechanical design, process integration, and provide process mechanical engineering services during construction for water / wastewater treatment facilities, water reservoirs, and pumping / lift stations.
  • Develop construction documents and specifications for pumps, valves, gates, HVAC and other mechanical systems.
  • Develop the basis of design including completion of detailed calculations
  • Complete assessments, perform equipment sizing and selection, develop and cost design options and prepare technical memoranda to document rationale and recommendations
  • Lead design coordination between engineering disciplines
  • Develop process flow narratives and complete hydraulic analyses
  • Assist in project management activities including budget and schedule tracking.
  • Participating in business development and proposal preparation
  • Mentor junior engineers and support quality control reviews

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 10 years of relevant experience in process mechanical engineering for water and wastewater facilities
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of California.
  • Key Skills and Attributes :

    Proficient in mechanical design standards (e.g. CMC, ASME, NFPA, AWWA) and experience in design build-build or alternative delivery projects. Strong working knowledge of CAD and BIM and be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, strong work ethic and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.

    Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $109,186 - $222,739. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
