The ABET-accredited Architectural Engineering (AREN) program will join the Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University effective September 1, 2026.
The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a nine-month academic appointment. An additional summer appointment may be available, contingent upon departmental needs and the availability of funds. The anticipated start date is Spring 2027 or Fall 2027.
Applicants will be considered at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with a focus on Building Mechanical Systems. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge in a core area of architectural engineering and the ability to apply this expertise to address societally relevant challenges.
We seek candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: building HVAC systems; building energy modeling and simulation; high-performance and net-zero energy buildings; indoor environmental quality; sustainable and resilient building systems; thermal sciences as applied to buildings; smart buildings, building automation and controls; artificial intelligence/machine learning for intelligent building operation; renewable energy integration; district energy systems; and advanced sensing, diagnostics, and fault detection.
Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline by the appointment date. Candidates completing all Ph.D. requirements except the dissertation (ABD) will be considered, provided they demonstrate clear progress toward completion.
