POSITION SUMMARY

Servtech, A Roeslein Company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our team in our manufacturing facilities for the energy, mining, industrial power markets, and Integrated bio-energy solutions.  This leader must have the desire to perform quality work safely, be detail-oriented, and have superior customer focus while working within project budgets. This individual must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.   This position requires active collaboration with the production department, project management group, electrical engineering group, procurement, and human resources.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for assisting management and peer group to lead, develop, and continuously improve the engineering and design team to complete engineering & design efforts towards project design, engineering, procurement, drafting, and product life cycle management of large scale manufactured industrial equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be someone who represents the organization with the ability to lead by example, adhere to company standards, and resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
  • Must comply with Roeslein & Associates’ core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and maintain sound relationships with employees.
  • This position will be responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training all new employees to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to perform their duties to the standard of the organization. This position will also be responsible for developing the team and providing feedback for annual performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for the escalation of employee issues and company violations to ensure the employee understands the policies and procedures of the organization.  This position will create and deliver all employee disciplines with the support of Human Resources.
  • Performs all work in compliance with company standards, does not deviate from policies and procedures, and adheres to regulatory requirements.
  • This position will be the point of contact for the team and will respond timely to troubleshoot issues and avoid prolonged delays. Must be able to troubleshoot issues with complete resolution.
  • Identify all safety situations and report issues timely.
  • Promote a positive working environment to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Must meet deadlines while safely producing a quality product.
  • Must set and adjust employees’ rates of pay and hours of work in collaboration with the production manager.
  • Must have the ability to plan and direct the work of employees.
  • Must attend all manager meetings, training, and safety meetings as required.
  • Ability to manage one’s own schedule as well as recognize when engineers need assistance prioritizing tasks to meet deliverables
  • Oversite and active involvement in the engineering and design schedule on regular basis.
  • Communicate and align the mechanical engineering schedule with the electrical engineering and production teams.
  • Ability to help the engineering team on selecting and sizing equipment for fluid handling systems such as, pumps, piping, valves, instrumentation, etc.
  • Ability to act as a technical resource and decision-making authority to guide designs for safety, manufacturability, reliability, and within budgets.
  • Ability to review industry documents to guide designs, including ASME, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, ASTM, customer specifications, and further as required.
  • Ability to revise and write formal procedures to guide engineering department
  • Ability to act as the liaison between the engineering / design team and the production team
  • Ability to act as an independent project manager of key accounts as required.
  • Procurement and management of equipment arrivals in an “on time delivery,” mindset.
  • Perform calculations required to ensure safe, correct, and economical designs.
  • Select engineered equipment to be utilized as part of the engineered product design.
  • Review / create  spreadsheets and or bid documents with pricing, part numbers, and equipment data.
  • Review / create project proposals that accurately depict Servtech’s offering to our client.
  • Direct team to create 3D SolidWorks layouts (general arrangements), P&IDs, structural drawings, mechanical assembly drawings, and others as needed to support the production floor.
  • Coordinate with the manufacturing shop on all fabricated, pre-assembled, and manufactured system designs.
  • Contact vendors for price and availability of engineering equipment.
  • Compile and review relevant equipment data for submittal to the client.
  • Proficient at guiding facility layouts due to maintenance, reliability, and serviceability needs.
  • Review mechanical and electrical manufacturing drawings from the drafting department for accuracy and intended function based on the project design.
  • Review drawing details for accuracy, standardization, and completeness.
  • Create milestone and Gantt chart schedules for submission to the client and interdepartmental communications.
  • Communicate with clients for project updates and technical questions.
  • Coordinate material take-offs for purchase of all materials required for fabrication and installation of Roeslein provided prefabricated and unitized systems.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner, and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • SKILL / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or technical engineering, math, or science is required.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in engineering design is required.
  • F ive (5) plus years of experience in a management role is preferred.
  • Five (5) plus years as an independent project manager is required.
  • Five (5) plus years of SolidWorks experience is required.
  • Five (5) plus years of O&G surface equipment is required.
  • Five (5) plus years of mechanical systems and associated components is required, e.g, pumps, piping, and instrumentation.
  • E IT registration is preferred.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Must have immense attention to detail.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Must work well with others in a team-oriented environment and be an example of teamwork for your crew.
  • Proactive communicator that manages customer and vendor relationships.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engineer and design Oil & Gas Surface equipment beyond a basic level is required.
  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD, 3D, 2D drafting experience beyond a basic level is required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience is strongly preferred.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers and provide mentorship for individual technical and organization growth.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Experience developing / reviewing drawings for manufacturing of industrial equipment is required
  • Experience with selection and specification of engineered equipment is required
  • Ability to manage time and efforts towards completing designs on time and within budgets is required.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere.   Exposure to harsh conditions—such as :   dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible.   All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.   Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. on a regular basis is required.
