Job description

Associate Buyer

Reno, Nevada, United States; San Francisco, California, United States

Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.

We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources including solar, gas, and batteries at a massive scale.

And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn't meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today's infrastructure equipment can't match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.

We've built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that's now ready for commercial deployment.

Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow's most demanding energy consumers.

Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.

Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.

With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.

Join us in building the power foundation of the future!

Responsibilities

  • Support procurement of mechanical and electrical components, assemblies, and materials to meet engineering, production, and project needs
  • Issue and manage purchase orders (POs), ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, lead times, and specifications
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program management teams to understand BOM requirements, revisions, and priorities
  • Source and qualify new suppliers, including requesting quotes (RFQs), comparing pricing, lead times, and technical capabilities
  • Track order status, manage expediting, and proactively resolve delivery, quality, or supply chain issues
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data in data tracking systems, including supplier information, pricing, and lead times
  • Assist in cost control initiatives, including price negotiations, alternate sourcing, and component standardization
  • Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels, demand signals, and forecast changes
  • Coordinate with suppliers on engineering changes (ECOs), part substitutions, and obsolescence risks
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable quality, regulatory, and documentation requirements
  • Prepare basic purchasing reports related to spend, supplier performance, and on-time delivery
  • Collaborate with all the cross functional teams, stakeholders, and the leadership team to provide visibility into the supply chain process and align with overall business objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, logistics, business, or related field. Ideally someone with experience handling a variety of parts in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1+ years' experience in supply chain with evidence showing an exceptional ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Proven experience working in a supply chain organization focused on new technologies, the NPI process, and in a startup environment.
  • Exceptionally strong communication and negotiation skills that demonstrate an ability to communicate visually, verbally, and in writing.
  • Experience working with engineering teams (mechanical and electrical)
  • Ability to work well under pressure while simultaneously managing competing priorities, challenges, and risks. Effective response to adapting to these competing priorities, risks, and program changes as needed and quickly.

This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.
