Fox TV Stations
FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sports Multi- Media Journalist / Producer shoots, gathers, edits, prepares, writes, and disseminates sports news information and video on the air, online and on social media, in addition to determining and formatting content and presentation of sportscasts and sports programs.
- Line produces daily sportscasts and long-form sports programs as assigned
- Writes script copy for sportscasts and sports programs
- Plans and coordinates the use of graphic elements in sportscasts and sports programs
- Uses contacts and sources to develop story ideas and participates actively in the daily planning process within the sports department; must be well versed in local and national sports and be comfortable interviewing sports figures in studio and in the field
- Shoots and edits both sports highlights and feature packages.
- Presents stories live in studio and on remote locations assuming all responsibility for the final content and presentation
- Interacts with the assignment desk and news managers regarding sports story development
- Writes effective text copy for digital publication of sports stories
- Actively contributes to social media accounts on platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on behalf of the station
- Travels on overnight assignments and uses file-based video systems to deliver material back to the station via computer while on assignment
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a related field preferred. Two years of experience producing or reporting sports for broadcast at a commercial television station or regional sports network preferred.
