Help us launch and maintain a brand new, in-patient facility! Have you supported a behavior-health facility? Our energy and expertise are focused on improving psychiatric care. Interested in learning more about how you might help us and our patients?
Note this role is NOT focused on public and patient safety. You must have experience in a health facility.
Duties
Our Safety Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and compliant environment for patients, staff and visitors. This person is responsible for developing, implementing and managing safety programs aligned with life safety standards, Environment of Care (EOC) codes, and Joint Commission (JACO) requirements.
- Manage the EOC program, ensuring alignment with The Joint Commission standards.
- Oversee the facility’s emergency management, hazardous materials handling, and safety protocols.
- Ensure the facility adheres to NFPA 101 : Life Safety Code requirements.
- Conduct regular fire drills, safety inspections, and hazard risk assessments.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for JACO accreditation surveys.
- Lead initiatives to address any deficiencies identified during audits or inspections.
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff on workplace safety, fire prevention, and emergency preparedness.
- Investigate safety incidents, prepare detailed reports and implement corrective actions.
