Job description

Position Description

Lincoln Land Community College is seeking qualified, part-time instructors to teach for the Clinical Medical Assistant program at the LLCC Medical District location in Springfield, IL.

The position will include classroom and hands-on laboratory teaching. Duties will include :

  • Preparing lessons and updating course syllabi as needed
  • Evaluating and assisting students
  • Keeping accurate records of student performance, including following grading procedures
  • Providing students with timely feedback
  • Collaborating with the program coordinator to address and resolve student concerns, proactively identifying potential barriers to a positive learning environment, and promptly reporting and managing any incidents that may arise in the classroom setting
  • Utilizing instructional technology in support of the teaching / learning process
  • Developing, integrating, evaluating and reviewing student learning outcomes.
  • Tracking consumable lab supply inventory and working with program coordinator to ensure timely replenishment of stock

Instructor’s pay will be no less than $33 per hour. Work schedule will depend on student enrollment and class demand.

The Paid Leave for All Workers Act allows part-time employees to earn 1 hour of PTO for every 40 hours worked. For more information on this benefit, please visit . Position Requirements Instructors must meet the following requirements :

  • A current credential as a CMA, RMA, LPN, or RN (must be active for the duration of employment)
  • A minimum of three (3) years of recent, relevant work experience in the field of Medical Assisting or related clinical practice.
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred in a health-related field.
  • Demonstrated competency in all skills taught in the program curriculum.
  • Knowledgeable in course content and proficient in relevant clinical and administrative procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and sensitivity to the needs of adult learners.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods during instruction and labs.
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude and reflects the high standards of the institution and the program.

If an employee declines health insurance coverage, LLCC will make an annual contribution of $500 into an unreimbursed medical spending account with no contribution required by the employee. If the employee wishes to contribute more than $500 of their own money to the account, LLCC will match the contribution, not to exceed $1,650.Dependent care flexible spending accountDCAP is a pre-tax benefit account used to pay for eligible dependent care services. It’s a smart and simple way to save money while taking care of your loved ones so you can continue to work.Health Savings Account (HSA)Employees on the HDHP will be assigned a health savings account through HealthEquity. LLCC will contribute a total of $3,100 to your HSA during fiscal year 2026. This contribution will be made in two installments – July 15, 2025, and Jan. 15, 2026. The dollar amount of the installment will be based on your active employment during the six-month installment period. This tax-free contribution can be used to offset your out-of-pocket costs related to health, dental and vision expenses. Retirement planThe State Universities Retirement System (SURS) covers LLCC employees. SURS contributions are deducted on a pre-tax basis. The employee may choose from three different retirement plans. SURS does not coordinate with Social Security and, consequently, there is no payroll deduction for FICA. However, there is a payroll deduction requirement of 1.45% of gross wages for Medicare.Deferred compensationLLCC offers employees the opportunity to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation plan. We offer a 403(b) plan, 457 plan, Roth IRA (not tax deferred) and a no-load profile plan.LLCC tuition waiverStarting or continuing education is highly valued at LLCC.
