Job description
A company is looking for a Medical Biller & Coder for the Podiatry Department.
Key Responsibilities
Process medical billing claims accurately using appropriate coding systems specific to podiatric procedures
Verify insurance coverage and benefits prior to submitting claims to ensure proper reimbursement
Follow up on unpaid claims and conduct medical collections as necessary
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field, preferably in podiatry or a surgical specialty
Strong knowledge of podiatry-related medical terminology and various coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS)
Familiarity with medical records management and the healthcare reimbursement process
Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus; advanced certifications in podiatry coding are highly desirable
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and audit readiness
