ABrief Overview The Physical Therapist is responsible for planningand providing physical therapy treatment for patients in accordancewith professional and Methodist Healthcare standards of treatment.Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Visionand Values. What you will do Performs initial patient assessment.Implements patient treatments based on assessment and written plan.Provides ongoing patient assessment through observation of patientand review of records. Identifies patient specific physical therapyrehabilitation learning needs and provides appropriate education.Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities forself-development and enhancement of professional competency.Education / Formal Training Requirements ~ Bachelor's Degree PhysicalTherapy Work Experience Requirements ~ No prior work experienceLicenses and Certifications Requirements ~ Physical Therapist -Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities Ability to understand and prepare moderately complexwritten materials, such as patient records. Ability to communicateverbally with Associates, physicians and other outsideprofessionals. Ability to work without close supervision and toexercise independent judgment. Ability to organize multiple tasksand projects and maintain control of work flow. SupervisionProvided by this Position ~ There are no supervisoryresponsibilities assigned to this position. May provide guidanceand direction to therapy assistants. Physical Demands The physicalactivities of this position may include climbing, pushing,standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping,and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. Thephysical requirements of this position are : medium work - exertingup to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and / or up to 25 lbs. of forcefrequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuityincluding color, depth perception, and field of vision to performan activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzingdata and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; orextensive reading. Frequent invasive and non-invasive patientcontact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure tohazardous or poisonous materials. Ability to react quickly toemergency situations.
