Job descriptionHands-on experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) . Knowledge of shipping, handling, and labeling procedures for laboratory kits and biological specimens. Prior experience working in a laboratory receiving environment. Familiarity with handling potentially infectious materials . Laboratory terminology, processes, and safety procedures. Quality control and quality assurance standards. Proper handling and decontamination of biological and chemical waste. Computer operation, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar), and LIMS systems. Data entry, organizational tasks, and written communication. Operation of laboratory and office equipment. Work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Communicate effectively with staff, couriers, and management. Understand and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Solve problems related to specimen logistics and documentation. Promote and support a culturally inclusive and diverse work environment.

Position Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Laboratory Shipping & Receiving Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting key operations related to the preparation, shipping, receiving, and documentation of laboratory specimen / sample collection kits and containers. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and regulations while maintaining excellent customer service and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and ship specimen / sample collection kits and containers.
- Receive supplies, packages, and infectious / hazardous samples for testing.
- Verify condition and paperwork of incoming materials and accurately log them into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Maintain meticulous documentation of all receiving and shipping activities.
- Communicate with submitters and program staff to provide guidance on sample submissions and resolve shipment issues.
- Assist with send-outs and ensure proper procedures are followed per state and federal regulations.
- Notify leadership of any concerns, out-of-specification readings, or irregularities.
- Provide exceptional customer service while supporting laboratory staff, couriers, and external clients.
