THE LOGAN SCHOOL FOR CREATIVE LEARNING POSITION : Librarian About The Logan School The Logan School (Logan) is an Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS) -accredited institution that promotes the curiosities of gifted children with an approach that is as unique and individual as the children who make up the Logan community. Logan serves approximately 250 students in grades K-8 on a 13-acre campus. Here, students develop their individualized units of study, allowing personal passions and interests to drive the development of academic skills and deep critical thinking. Faculty, in partnership with families, guide students through their learning journeys and infuse Logans values and commitment to building an inclusive community throughout the campus. About the Position The Librarian works closely with teachers and students to provide all manners of library services. The librarian is a salaried, on-campus, and exempt 1.0 FTE position with full benefits and works during the school year (typically early to mid-August through early June). Direct Supervisor : Associate Head of School Responsibilities Manage and maintain The Logan Schools library of books and technology resources. Evaluate current resources and the need for new or other resources regarding books and technology. Purchase, catalog, shelve, and weed fiction, non-fiction, and staff collections as they align with Logans commitment to an equitable and inclusive environment. Work with teachers to ensure the library has the necessary resources. Find relevant materials for teachers when requested. Manage, update, and maintain the circulation of laptops, iPads, and AV equipment. Work with the tech department to identify needs for new equipment based on use and wear on devices. Manage and document library budget, including reconciling monthly credit card statement. Manage circulation, including overdue and missing materials. Manage library donations. Supervise students using the library. Manage and maintain library spaces for use. Develop library and information technology skills program curricula in coordination with the technology teacher and dean of faculty and students. Teach required information technology / library skills class to all incoming 3rd graders; teach optional advanced class for upper IS students. Work daily with Logan students, assisting with research and library skills. Promote and collaborate with teachers to consistently integrate curricula materials in daily classroom use. Conduct library orientations for classes each year. Communicate with staff and students about the school library program and its philosophy. Conduct weekly story time for lower primary classes. Assist teachers with running book groups for 3rd-8th graders. Supervise Newbery & Printz book clubs for interested IS and AS students. Other duties as assigned by the Head of School and / or Associate Head of School. Qualifications A degree in Library Science is highly preferred. Experience in a K-8 school or with elementary school-aged children. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, as well as a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Comfortable with technology and other tools. Compensation The salary range for this position is $45,000-$65,000 per year and depends upon experience and qualifications.
