Job DescriptionUnder a board-approved supervisor, provides high quality, short-term, evidence-based clinical, therapeutic, and consultative services via telehealth to prevent, assess, evaluate, and treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in child and adolescent patients and their family members in TCHATT (Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine). TCHATT is an initiative of the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC), created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address child and adolescent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in the state of Texas. Has excellent communication and organizational skills. Works on multidisciplinary team with strong computer skills and attention to accuracy and detail. Has strong interest in learning and professional development opportunities. Will receive annual stipend for continued education. Clinical supervision expenses covered by department. Required to have the following licensure : LPC-A (working toward clinical licensure).
- Position is remote; however, candidate would need to be local to San Antonio, Texas for occasional trainings / meetings.Responsibilities Provides individual, couples, and / or family therapy to improve mental health, resiliency, and coping skills. Consults with Board Approved Supervisor as per Board, Institutional, and Department standards Performs counseling, evaluation, treatment, and plan, using evidence-based practices Creates individualized treatment plans according to each patient's unique needs and circumstances. Will review progress towards goals and adjust treatment plan as agreed upon by the patient and supervisor. Assures continuity of care, conveys assessment findings, and implements therapeutic plans. Completes documentation and safety plans according to program policies and prepares reports and other documentation in accordance with good clinical practice and institutional standards. Connects families and caregivers to institute and community resources need to improve quality of life. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team and participates in case consultation to provide comprehensive care, and coordinates with family members as needed to engage patient in care. Identifies obstacles to optimal patient care, risk reduction, and health promotion. Performs crisis interventions as needed. Develops innovative support and community engagement programs for caregivers and patients to promote mental health and encourages involvement in programs. Facilitates or leads therapeutic and support groups for patients and caregivers. Formulates candid and supportive communication. Facilitates effective problem solving and conflict resolution. Participates in program evaluation activities including, but not limited to data collection for grants, grant reporting, patient satisfaction surveys, and other activities as needed. Performs administrative duties and outreach as assigned. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge and clinical experience with mental health issues. Demonstrated ability to provide diagnostic assessment. Ability to establish and maintain trust and rapport. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong organization and time management skills.EDUCATION : Master's degree or higher in professional counseling or related field is required.EXPERIENCE : Up to one (1) year related experience.LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION : At minimum, registered with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors as an associate. QMHP eligible and on track to LPC preferred.
