KPC Promise HealthcareBaton Rouge, LA, USKPC Promise Hospital of BATON ROUGE : Under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory, the Phlebotomist is responsible for blood drawing, processing and distribution of clinical laboratory specimens for testing, which includes sending out to contracted reference laboratories. This position is also responsible for clerical duties associated with the operation of the Laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- State Phlebotomist Certificate
- High School graduate or equivalent experience required
- One year of College with emphasis in biology preferred
- Completion of one year of Laboratory internship or accumulative experience of two years under direction of an accredited program
- Basic computer experience - Microsoft word, excel
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS :
Physical : Walking – up to 80% Standing – up to 80% Kneeling – up to 10%
Sitting – up to 50% Pushing – up to 10% Bending – up to 80%
Squatting – up to 10% Pulling – up to 10 Reaching – up to 25%
Lifting – up to 25 lbs Wrist / Finger Movements – up to 50%
Mental : Stress Level : Moderate
EXPOSURE RISK : Category I – Jobs in which required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate measures is required for every healthcare provider in these jobs.
