JOB SUMMARY
The VRC Monitor reports to the Program Director that oversees the position and is primarily responsible for contributing to a supportive, safe recovery environment. The monitor role is to maintain client safety and support client recovery by providing clients with guidance on program expectations and available resources in a licensed residential program for Substance Use Disorder treatment.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide constant and vigilant supervision and monitoring of all residents.
- Monitor resident compliance with program guidelines, rules, schedules, and chore assignments.
- Be professional, attentive, and responsive to calls, emails, or individuals entering and exiting the facility and maintain accurate records of resident arrivals and departures utilizing the appropriate forms.
- Conduct and document frequent rounds and checks of all areas occupied by residents, including the facility perimeter, to observe behavior, confirm resident count, check on residents' well-being, and identify maintenance, safety, or security issues at prescribed random intervals.
- Generate timely, accurate, and detailed records of resident incidents, interactions, behavior, progress, risks, or potential concerns.
- Act as a resource for residents, offering guidance on program expectations and available community resources to support residents throughout their treatment and recovery.
- Communicate, share insights, collaborate, and work closely with other team members to provide updates on residents to ensure supervision is coordinated and effective.
- Maintain confidentiality, respect the confidential nature of conversations with residents, and adhere to professional ethics and legal guidelines.
- Develop and maintain respectful and empathetic professional relationships and establish and maintain clear professional boundaries.
- Use active listening techniques to understand resident's needs and respond appropriately.
- Remain flexible and adaptable to changes in workload and assignments.
- Administer urine or oral swab specimen collection tests for resident drug screens and process specimens using approved procedures. Ability to be a resource for other staff performing urine specimen collection, processing, and documentation.
- Conduct routine resident security screening and searches, including personal property, rooms, vehicles, and body scans. Ability to be a resource for other staff performing searches.
- Monitor the video surveillance system.
- Will drive on agency business, including transporting residents in a company vehicle.
- Provide clerical support with ordering supplies, filing, and other general office duties as needed.
- Conduct inspections of the company vehicle to maintain operational safety standards, complete vehicle reports, and address any vehicle maintenance or repair needs.
- Assist with client intakes and orientation for new clients, including a tour of the facility, review of the resident guidelines, services, activities, group schedule, and completion of intake forms.
- Respond quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
