Job Duties
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Museum Store Manager , who excels in a fast-paced setting, to join the Retail Operations team.
The Museum Store Manager is an essential leader who can seamlessly blend strategic oversight with hands-on management. The Manager is responsible for all facets of store operations, including inventory control, staff supervision, and financial management, while ensuring alignment with the museum's mission and strategic plan. Proficiency in retail systems, cash handling, and museum policies is essential, alongside strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. This position requires a proactive individual who can cultivate a positive team environment, drive sales, and maintain impeccable customer service, all while adhering to the museum's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Salary and Benefits :
This is a salaried, non-exempt position offering $55,000 / annually and Commonwealth of Virginia employee benefits, such as 12 paid holidays, health care and more. Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in retail store management.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices.
- Retail financial acumen, including the ability to monitor and analyze sales data.
- Experience in recruiting, training, and supervising staff.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to train others in customer service best practices.
- Proficiency in generating and interpreting sales reports.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records in line with established COV and VMFA processes
- Knowledgeable in loss prevention techniques, policy adherence, SOP development and compliance.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain ADA compliance.
- Strong communication skills.
- Expert level Counterpoint retail point of sale system experience.
- Proficient in relevant software (e.g., Kronos, HotSchedules, Cardinal) and able to conduct regular meetings and provide staff feedback.
