Director, Projects Engineering

The Director, Projects Engineering provides strategic leadership and oversight for engineering-driven projects across the organization. This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, from concept development and design through execution, commissioning, and closeout. The Director ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering expertise with exceptional project management, leadership, and business acumen to drive operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Direct and oversee a portfolio of engineering and capital projects from initiation through completion.
  • Develop and implement project strategies, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Establish project governance processes, performance metrics, and reporting standards.
  • Ensure projects are executed in compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively address scope, schedule, cost, and quality challenges.
  • Lead project reviews, status meetings, and executive updates.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, and commercial teams to align project objectives with business goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction for engineering initiatives and complex problem-solving activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering standards, best practices, and design methodologies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve performance, efficiency, and competitiveness.
  • Ensure engineering designs meet safety, reliability, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, engineers, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and support employee development planning.
  • Build organizational project management capabilities through coaching and process improvements.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and capital expenditure plans.
  • Optimize resource allocation across multiple projects and business priorities.
  • Track project financial performance and ensure achievement of cost objectives.
  • Support business case development, ROI analysis, and strategic investment decisions.
  • Serve as the primary executive contact for key project stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with internal customers, clients, vendors, contractors, and strategic partners.
  • Ensure effective communication, issue resolution, and alignment of project expectations.
  • Support customer presentations, technical reviews, and project milestone discussions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to project execution, engineering processes, and operational performance.
  • Implement project management and engineering best practices to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead lessons-learned reviews and promote knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Champion safety, quality, and operational excellence initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, or related discipline) required.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or Project Management preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering and project management experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering, project management, or technical teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale, complex engineering projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience within manufacturing, industrial equipment, engineered products, or related industries preferred.
  • Proven experience managing multimillion-dollar project budgets and capital investments.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification preferred.

ADA Requirements:

Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

  • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job. Visits to our manufacturing facility and suppliers' facilities is required to monitor active projects and address design issues.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
