Parish - Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish

Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, located in the heart of Little Havana in Miami, Florida seeks a Music Director to help to develop and sustain a prayerful, singing assembly at the weekend Masses and other holy days and in so doing, help to increase regular attendance. This person should share the Catholic faith and should have the ability to deepen liturgical understanding through music and sung prayer. The Music Director would direct the choirs in addition to manage the weekend musicians. The Music Director should perform all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami and of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Parish.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience.
• Knowledge of the Roman Catholic liturgy and ability to integrate the music into liturgy.
• Thorough understanding of applied music, music theory and the history of music.
• Mastery of a keyboard instrument used in liturgical celebration and voice / choral performance and conducting experience.
• Some knowledge of acoustics, especially pertaining to the parish worship space.
• Basic knowledge of theory and harmony.
• Demonstrated understanding of score reading and transposition of instruments.
• Knowledge of the vast repertoire of music available today, both contemporary and treasured, sacred pieces.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to the ethnic composition of the parish and its musical needs.
• Must be dependable and reliable.
• Basic skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a plus.
• Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
• Excellent inter-personal skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations.
• Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
• Knowledge of basic tenets of Catholic Church and parish structures.
• Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
