We accomplish this vision through our seven commitments : Living in Community Lifelong Jewish Learning Acting as Agents of Social Justice and Change Living with An Awareness of the Sacred in Our Lives The Land and People of Israel Acknowledging our Community Managing our Resources Position Summary : FLSA : Salaried, non-exempt; Full Time Under the Supervision of the Cantor, the Director of Music Engagement is responsible for maintaining and expanding the Congregation’s vision of weaving musical connections throughout our communities. Congregation Shaare Emeth has a wide and diverse community of learners and worshipers, this position integrates Jewish music and prayer into all of our populations using a systemic approach of collaboration, learning, teaching, and innovation. Responsibilities : Youth & Teen Music Experiences : Teach music classes regularly at Religious School, at Camp Emeth and at Shirlee Green Preschool Lead monthly prayer services for PreK-2 nd grade, monthly service for entire religious school, monthly Preschool Shabbat, weekly camp Shabbat, and weekly midweek prayer services. Serve as Song leader at Camp Emeth as well as part of the camp leadership team. Serve as lead staff person for Youth Choir by offering structured music workshops, choir and performance opportunities. Coordinate rehearsal schedule and performances at Shaare Emeth and throughout the community. Assist the Director of Early Childhood Engagement (ECE) in planning and executing musical components for ECE programming as needed. Create and maintain a schedule with the clergy for music experiences in preschool classrooms and all-school programs, including Shabbat celebrations according to the curriculum. Cultivate and curate music mentorship for young musicians. Worship : Be a musical presence on the worship team as scheduled for High Holiday services, Friday night and Saturday services, and other Jewish Holidays primarily (though, not exclusively) when youth are expected to be present. In cooperation with the clergy, develop and lead music for monthly Prayer Lab services Engage musical stakeholders of all ages in Shabbat & holiday participation in vocal and instrumental roles. Periodic music engagement opportunities through performances / workshops in conjunction with other communal organizations. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Judaic Studies, Education, Social Work, Music, Community Building, Non-profit Management or related field. Experience in song leading Excellent musical abilities and knowledge including the ability to play guitar or other song leading instrument Excellent Hebraic and liturgical knowledge. Knowledge of music and Jewish music Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, as well as in teams.
