Overview

Are you an excellent customer service provider, a persistent technology troubleshooter, and a top-notch researcher? The Tigard Public Library seeks several On-Call Librarians to help patrons access technology and find materials they want and need. Join our team to ensure that the Library is a trusted source for accurate, vital materials and resources.

These positions provide professional level reference, readers advisory, and technology support at the adult and children's reference desks. On-Call Librarians fill weekday, evening, weekend and short notice scheduling needs.

These On-Call positions do not have a regular schedule from week to week. On-Call Librarians help provide reference desk coverage for planned and unplanned absences in the Readers Services division. There are opportunities to accept shifts weeks in advance for planned absences, and on short notice for unplanned absences.

Examples of Duties

Qualifications : Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional librarianship; skills in using a variety of technology hardware and software; knowledge and skills with online search strategies; excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively deal with the public; skill in teaching and assisting patrons. Applicants must be able to work a wide variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, and must be capable of accepting shifts each month.
