JOB SUMMARY

The Music Department at California State University San Bernardino is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Music Education. We are looking for an outstanding educator to lead our BM Pre-Certification program and direct our symphonic band. This is a 10-month position (fall / spring semesters) with potential opportunity for teaching during the summer.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Teach courses in music education and band as assignedHold office hours per music department requirementsAttend faculty meetings as requiredServe on departmental, college, and university committeesAdvise music education / wind / brass majors as assignedRecruit students to the music education program and to the symphonic bandDevelop innovative courses in music educationParticipate in CMEA, CASMEC, and other related local / national organizationsEnrich the student experience with opportunities in the fieldOther duties as assignedQualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EdD / PhD in Music Education from a regionally-accredited universityExperience teaching music at the college levelRecord of ongoing research, scholarship, and / or creative activities

Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
