Description
Supervise electrical staff including journeymen and apprentices. Assist manager with the department.
Prioritize and assign tasks to be completed according to work orders, project requests, and emergency calls in accordance with any local and state codes and District policy.
Make periodic inspections of facilities, electrical equipment, and lighting systems.
Demonstrate accountability in maintaining accurate records for maintenance functions including status, cost of labor, materials, and supplies for work order close out.
Supervise the training of new employees and apprentices. Evaluate, as required by District policy, during the school year.
Coordinate work with other Maintenance Services personnel, District staff, and outside contractors.
Recommend and initiate personnel actions including promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures. Communicate with director on personnel issues.
Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, District staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair and complete each job or project.
Adhere to local, state, and federal procedures for inspection, documentation, and abatement procedures.
Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and vehicles assigned to department and communicate with the department director regarding known issues or concerns related to equipment failures, project requests or issues with vehicles.
Employee will be required to respond to after hour / emergency callouts, be placed on an emergency call out rotation, and flex work hours to accommodate job completions.
Qualifications
Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent ().
Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Journeyman Electrician License.
Six (6) years of directly related experience in electrical installation, alteration, and repair work.
Two (2) years of supervisory experience in trade or related field.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.
Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management, including work orders and material procurement.
Maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record that meets District standards.
Must pass a Dallas ISD random drug test.
