About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life

Join a high-performing neonatal team committed to clinical excellence, transparency, and exceptional patient outcomes. This is an opportunity to practice at the top of your license while working alongside experienced Neonatologists and Advanced Practice Providers who value teamwork, mentorship, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will provide advanced neonatal care across Level II and Level III NICU settings, managing a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity. Providers are trusted to exercise strong clinical judgment, participate in patient management decisions, and deliver evidence-based care that supports both infants and their families.

Beyond direct patient care, you'll have opportunities to contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocols, education programs, and leadership development efforts. The organization actively encourages professional growth and supports providers who want to make a meaningful impact on both patient outcomes and program development.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Flexible scheduling with both 12-hour and 24-hour in-house shift options
  • Strong APP leadership team focused on mentorship and provider success
  • Opportunity to practice across Level II and Level III NICUs
  • Collaborative culture where APPs are respected, supported, and highly valued
  • Active involvement in quality improvement, education, and clinical program development
  • Work with a team committed to evidence-based medicine and family-centered care

What We’re Looking For

  • Clinicians passionate about neonatal medicine and patient-centered care
  • Strong critical thinking and independent clinical decision-making skills
  • Team-oriented providers who thrive in collaborative environments
  • Interest in quality improvement and clinical excellence
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and education
  • Providers who value mentorship, communication, and continuous learning

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced neonatal care in Level II and Level III NICU settings
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage neonatal patients utilizing evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate closely with Neonatologists, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Participate in daily patient management and care planning
  • Exercise autonomous clinical judgment within scope of practice
  • Support implementation and development of clinical protocols and best practices
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and outcome-focused projects
  • Assist with program development and policy implementation efforts
  • Educate patients' families regarding treatment plans and care expectations
  • Mentor and support new and existing clinical staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Engage in continuing education and professional development activities

Required Qualifications

  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) certification
  • Active or eligible Arizona licensure
  • Current national certification appropriate to role
  • Ability to practice in neonatal intensive care settings
  • Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Preferred Background

  • Prior NICU experience
  • Experience working in Level III NICU environments
  • Participation in quality improvement or clinical practice initiatives
  • Experience mentoring or educating clinical staff
  • Interest in leadership and program development activities

This Role Is Likely a Fit If You…

  • Enjoy caring for complex neonatal patients
  • Value collaboration while maintaining clinical autonomy
  • Want exposure to varying levels of neonatal acuity
  • Are motivated by quality improvement and patient outcomes
  • Appreciate strong physician and APP support
  • Want scheduling flexibility and work-life balance

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You…

  • Prefer highly structured environments with limited autonomy
  • Have little interest in quality improvement or program development
  • Prefer practicing independently without interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Are uncomfortable working in higher-acuity neonatal settings
  • Prefer a role focused solely on routine patient care without additional leadership or educational opportunities

Why Join Us

Join a collaborative neonatal practice where Advanced Practice Providers are valued members of the care team and play a meaningful role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced clinicians in NICUs with diverse acuity levels while benefiting from strong mentorship, leadership support, and a culture focused on continuous improvement.

If you're looking for a neonatal opportunity that offers scheduling flexibility, professional growth, clinical autonomy, and the ability to make a lasting impact on patients and families, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements

  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) certification
  • Active or eligible Arizona licensure
  • Current national certification appropriate to the role
  • Ability to practice in neonatal intensive care settings
