Overview
This is a Per Diem position is fully onsite and requires the ability to cover any shift. It may also be eligible for Shift Differentials depending on the shift(s) worked.
Receiving general direction from the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer ensures a safe and secure environment, provides protective service and response for protection of the people and property of the Institute, and is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of Department.

Responsibilities
- Provides protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms and surveillance cameras.
- Patrols buildings and grounds and identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas / property to help prevent theft, injuries or damages.
- Provides a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly and helpful. Creates safety awareness among the Institute community.
- Provides emergency response to a variety of situations and incidents.
- Conducts preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages and other complaints involving potential misconduct.
- Gathers, analyzes, evaluates, and utilizes facts and evidence. Interviews victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects.
- Provides escorts for staff, visitors and patients as requested.
- Assists with potentially violent patients. Detains individuals suspected of criminal conduct.
- Maintains accountability for valuables / property and other forms of evidence.
- Prepares and submits written reports in a complete and accurate manner and logs all incidents.
- May be assigned to special duties such as Bike Patrol and / or Community Service Officer.
- May be assigned to an off-site location, including administrative buildings, ambulatory care centers, and / or community-based clinics. Will be cross trained in other locations beyond normally assigned workspace.
- May be required to work other shifts and / or locations when necessary.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
