OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT
The Network & Systems Specialist is a member of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) Team and is tasked with maintaining the network infrastructure and supporting the School’s technology systems and users. Under the direction of the Director of Technology, this position will hold primary responsibility for ensuring the School’s network performance and will make recommendations for future improvements in reliability, safety, security, and access. The Network & Systems Specialist also demonstrates a passion for learning and enthusiasm for new technology within an educational setting, specifically in supporting diverse school constituents including students, faculty, staff, and parents.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain uptime and reliability of network equipment, firewall, DNS, and DHCP.
- Administer virtual and physical Windows servers, SANs, including backup solutions.
- Update and test technology protocols within the School’s DR and BC plans.
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Active Directory and Google Workspace.
- Make recommendations and changes for network and infrastructure projects and equipment needs.
- Monitor scheduled jobs and computer output for completeness, accuracy, and errors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical support issues and help desk tickets for all users.
- Log all network, computer, and printer hardware / software problems.
- Maintain all data used for redundancy efforts and assist with remediation efforts resulting from test findings and risk assessments.
- Interface with vendors as needed to resolve issues and maintain relationships.
- Stay current on new trends in technology including the areas of virtualization, security, and data recovery, and create scripts for automation of common tasks.
- Be a thought partner on the Academic Resource Center team and perform other duties as assigned.
