Summary : Rising Sun Accounting provides accounting, bookkeeping, tax, and payroll services to over 200 non-profit organizations across a broad range of sectors. Our staff members work independently and directly with our clients and they are an integral part of each organizations team! Rising Suns clients are primarily located in the Seattle area and currently, we have 6 staff members in the Seattle area and 3 out-of-state staff members. We are accepting both Seattle-based candidates as well as fully remote US-based candidates. We are expanding our team and seeking a candidate who is detail-oriented, has education and experience with non-profit tax & accounting, and is passionate about helping non-profits thrive! This position offers flexibility for the employee : it is remote and can be either part-time or full-time (in the range of 25-40 hrs / wk). The workload is expected to be split between : 10-20 hrs / wk of 990 preparation; and the remaining time (up to the employees desired hours) will be as the primary accountant & bookkeeper for small-to-medium non-profit clients.  Rising Sun is not a CPA firm, and a CPA is not required for this position. For more information about Rising Sun Accounting, please visit our website : www.risingsunaccounting.com Primary Responsibilities : -Form 990 and Form 990-EZ preparation and filing : This position will work with the clients to prepare 990s from start to finish (with guidance and supervision)-Monthly bank and investment reconciliations -Journal entries and month-end closeout-Financial reporting and budgeting-Payroll processing via Gusto payroll software -Accounts payable and receivable, primarily through QuickBooks and bill.com-Audit preparation-Maintaining electronic client accounting files via Google Drive-Quarterly staff meetings and frequent check-ins with supervisor-Annual travel to Seattle to meet with clients and coworkers-Other accounting tasks, as neededMinimum Qualifications : -Experience with IRS Form 990s-At least 1 to 2 years of Non-Profit Accounting / Bookkeeping experience -Passion for working with a diverse group of non-profit organizations-Ability to perform detailed work with efficiency and accuracy-Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel-Ability to work efficiently both independently and with a team, comfortable managing many clients / projects at once-Ability to demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality while working with sensitive information-Strong organizational, analytical, and math skills; very detail-oriented-Ability to pass a background check & fluency in English-Awareness of, and working toward racial and gender equityDesired Qualifications : -Experience preparing IRS Form 990s for multiple organizations, and enjoys 990 tax preparation-3+ years of accounting experience with non-profit organizations-Working knowledge of GAAP, Debits / Credits, and Cash / Accrual basis-Experience managing multiple clients or projects at once-Accounting, Bookkeeping, and / or Tax Education-Proficiency with Google Drive storage and files -Experience processing payrollSalary & Benefits : -Hourly Rate of $35 - $55 per hour (DOE) with opportunity for growth.
