Mesa Associates is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our nuclear services team and contribute to the design, analysis, and construction of nuclear facilities. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in the engineering and design processes for commercial nuclear power generation. Mesa's strategic growth strategy for our commercial nuclear division is to create a ready service pool of available staff to support proposals and projects in nuclear generation.
The position is open to a candidate who is able to work either in our Chattanooga, TN office location on a hybrid schedule working a minimum of 3 days in the office, typically Tuesday through Thursday, with the ability to work from home the remaining workdays or a remote candidate located near the Chicago, IL area. Candidates must be able to travel to plant sites and support outages when needed (approx. 6-8 days / month with ability to support longer durations during outages).

Education / Experience / Licensure :
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university ( required )
- Master of Science or other advanced degree in engineering (preferred)
- PE registration (highly preferred) – or ability to obtain PE License within one year of employment ( required )
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in design and 4 years’ experience in design of modifications in nuclear commercial plants
- Experience performing pipe stress analysis using AutoPIPE or a similar software (highly preferred)
- Experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients, specifically Constellation Nuclear, and vendors (highly preferred)
- On-site and past unescorted access (highly preferred) or ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant ( required )
- Experience with Industry Standard Design Procedure IP-ENG-001 ( required )
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA)
- Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Additional software skills including Bluebeam, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Vault, Plant3D, Inventor, ReCap, SolidWorks, FARO Scene, and other 3D rendering programs (preferred)
