Job descriptionGraduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program or equivalent training 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Med Technician or Technologist, preferably in a hospital setting Current TDH / MRT Certification, Current ARRT and / or NMTCB Certification BLS / CPR certified within 30 days of hire into the role Effective communicator : Ability to read and write documentation, routine reports and correspondence High degree of proficiency in specialized Nuclear Medicine Procedures and PET / CT procedures Radioactive materials quality control experience is helpful Request for accommodations in the hire process should be directed to UMC Human Resources.

Job Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technician performs the full spectrum of Nuclear Medicine exams, PET / CT exams and other associated imaging procedures.

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to :
- Participates in day-to-day operations of Imaging department, including quality control and patient exam acquisition
- Properly prepare and administer Nuclear Medicine procedures and radiopharmaceuticals using prescribed standards for radiation safety
- Start IV’s or acquire venous access as needed
- Perform area surveys, wipe test, and all other prescribed radiation monitoring procedures
- Process images, Maintain proper paperwork and documentation for all tests; Correctly charge exams according to proper CPT definition upon completion of exams
- Schedule outpatient exams, ensuring all necessary information is available, including ordering physician, diagnosis, insurance information, and pre certification information / authorizations
- Transport patients and supplies to and from the exam tables and other areas of the hospital as needed
- All other assigned duties related to Nuclear Medicine / PETCT lab

This position will interact with patients, their families, and hospital medical staff in various departments
Physical Capabilities
Must be emotionally and physically fit. Work requires frequent standing and lifting of patients, materials and equipment. The work is, at times, stressful with many emotional demands. The position requires near visual acuity.
Environmental / Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental conditions. This position requires constant work around and handling of radioactive materials. Occupational risk to blood borne pathogens is moderate to high.
