The Graduate Assistant / Assistant Area Coordinator will focus their efforts on co-supervising a first year quad under the supervision of an Area Coordinator within the Departments of Community Living. Programs will be focused on creating a conducive living and learning environment as well as transitional support specific to first year areas, beginning with New Student Orientation. The Graduate Assistant must be a full-time graduate student in good standing in an accredited graduate program. The ability to work both autonomously and collectively with multiple constituents (students, parents, administrators, etc.) is necessary.
This position is a graduate level position with 20 hours of required work (during the academic year). This is a live-in position.

Examples of Key Responsibilities :
- Work with Area Coordinator to co-supervise a quad made up of primarily first year students.
- Including the supervision and leadership of a student staff made up of Community Advisors (CAs).
- General support.
- Coverage of office hours is shared by a staff of 8 live-in staff members. Coverage may take place in the central office or satellite locations.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff and supervision meetings. Serve in a Professional Staff "on call" duty rotation.
- Support the functions of a major university office by providing coverage on a rotating basis.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor's degree required; Enrollment in an accredited graduate program required. 1-3 years of para-professional experience working in Housing / Residence Life, Orientation, and / or Student Affairs strongly preferred.
A strong commitment to working cross collaboratively between campus departments is a must. Ability to utilize a variety of software packages - including Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher. Requires the ability to manage projects and activities on a mainly residential campus.
