Job descriptionPerform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Programs mission values and philosophies. Assist in developing lesson plans based on state requirements and the specific needs of each child. Collaborate with educator to monitor the academic progress of each child. Collaborate with educator to deliver daily lesson plans as well as understand how the classroom is run in the event that the teacher is absent on a particular day. Work with individual children in the classroom to promote their learning and development. Associate degree in education and / or early childhood education. Valid ECE certification preferred. 2 years experience as a Teacher Assistant or Paraprofessional working with minority children in a classroom environment. Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers smartphones and tablets printers fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing spreadsheet and database programs. Bilingual (English Spanish). Fluency in Spanish is required. Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100000 / 300000 bodily liability coverage. 21 years of age valid state drivers license reliable personal vehicle and a good driving record. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Compassionate attitude and strong understanding of child development. Nurturing teaching approach. Use of manual dexterity tactile visual and audio acuity. Use of repetitive motion prolonged periods of sitting and standing and sustained visual and mental applications and demands. Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds) bending pulling and carrying. Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods with frequency varying based on program demands. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

The Assistant Educator for La Jornada will provide assistance to the teaching staff. Provide feedback to the Lead Educator about the progress of the children and discuss important issues pertaining to the children on a regular basis.
