JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing a high quality and engaging instruction and academic mentoring to students; for developing, assessing, and assuring excellent pedagogy and curriculum design within the nursing program; for promoting student achievement and academic integrity on behalf of the University; and for collaboration with support services provided through units such as the Adawe Center and for collaboration with support services provided through campus units. Academic program development for program currency, growth, retention, and recruitment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role) :
- Teaching Load : (5) Nursing courses per year, combination of undergraduate and graduate.
- Teaching Standards : Maintain a high standard in classroom teaching through engaging and effective pedagogy, exhibiting awareness and understanding of best practices in post secondary education through application in the classroom, and remaining current with issues, curriculum, and classroom approaches in nursing and the candidate’s academic discipline.
- Advising : Attend to student needs and concerns, and work with each student’s advising team members to identify and develop opportunities for each individual learner. Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses, addressing academic concerns, and supporting efforts in retention.
- Scholarship : Maintain awareness of contemporary trends and evolving knowledge within nursing and nursing education through research, creative work, writing, conference attendance (either virtually or at designated location), public presentations (in-person and virtually), and other involvement in the regional and national community of higher education professionals
- Service :
- Participate with faculty in governance issues related to curriculum and course development and revisions, including review of adjunct syllabi as assigned. Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses and addressing academic concerns (such as, but not limited to, serving on an academic grievance committee)
- Participate in the interviewing process, orientation, mentoring, and development of new faculty as needed.
- Participate in Campus and University-wide governance in responding to and engaging in dialogue related to academic issues across the university.
- Participate in Campus and University-wide committee work, including on-going committees, program assessments, task-oriented committees or task forces, and other projects or committees as requested
- Assessment : Maintain effective curricula through participation in university-wide assessment processes.

STANDARD UNIVERSITY EXPECTATIONS :
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION : (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity) :
For Kansas Faculty : Earned Doctorate preferred. Master’s Degree required or BSN with state Board of Nursing for clinical instruction. For Arizona Faculty : If providing didactic instruction, hold a graduate degree with a major in nursing. If the graduate degree is not in nursing, a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE : (experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity)
For Kansas Faculty : Three years higher education experience, multi-modal, nursing education preferred. Three years direct care clinical experience required for cinical instruction. For Arizona Faculty : At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
