Job Title: Clinical Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years acute care experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: AHA BLS Must-Have: - Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic) - Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for delivering safe, effective, quality nursing care. The RN utilizes Jean Watson's Theory of Caring, Relationship Based Care, and the professional nursing practice model to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients. The RN determines the progress of patients toward goals and utilizes therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote, maintain, and restore health. Care is provided according to the specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of patients. The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence in nursing. Competency is demonstrated through the ability to transfer scientific knowledge from various sciences in applying the nursing process. Care is consistent with the interdisciplinary plan and grounded in Relationship Based Care principles. The RN assesses patient physical and psychosocial conditions on an ongoing basis. A nursing diagnosis is formulated through observation and interpretation of information from patients and the health team. The RN collaborates with patients to create a care plan that ensures safety, comfort, hygiene, and protection. Essential nursing skills are performed, and health treatment is explained to patients and families. Patient and family education on health needs is provided. The RN evaluates the effectiveness of care plans and modifies them as needed based on patient condition and team communication. Current knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications are essential. Tasks are delegated to care team members based on their legal scopes of practice and capabilities. The RN supervises nursing care provided by the care team effectively. Acting as the client’s advocate, the RN initiates actions to improve healthcare and facilitates informed decision-making. Culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care is provided within legal standards. The RN coordinates patient care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary care team members. Effective communication skills are utilized for safe patient handoffs. Nursing care documentation is completed per hospital policies. Manual and automated information systems are utilized to improve efficiency and productivity. The RN is accountable for meeting or exceeding patient satisfaction goals. Positive patient care experiences are contributed to through individual interactions. The RN assists in resolving complaints and investigates issues, providing information to relevant personnel. Other duties as assigned.
