Job Description
Rrole purpose
We are seeking a Nursing Home Administrator Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, which offers a vibrant, independent lifestyle for active seniors, backed by a full spectrum of health care as part of Saint Luke’s Health System. The Administrator directs the operation of the Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living units to ensure a superior resident experience, high quality care, and compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements. The Administrator participates in strategic planning for these areas, and the community in general, and manages several support functions including 2 social service teammates, Director of Nursing, and Clinical Intake Coordinator. This position will have 4 direct reports
The following tasks are essential parts of the Administrator position.
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs all programs and activities for the skilled nursing and assisted living units.
- Develops and maintains written policies and procedures and professional standards of practice that govern the operation of the community.
- Reviews the facility’s policies and procedures at least annually and makes changes as necessary, with system approval, to assure continued compliance with current regulations.
- Interprets the facility’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.
- Ensures that all employees, residents, visitors, and the general public follow the facility’s established policies and procedures.
- Makes routine inspections of the facility to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed. Prepares staff for, and participates in, state/federal surveys of the facility.
- Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures governing the management and control of protected health information (e.g., assignment/use of passwords, unauthorized use/release of protected health information, etc.).
- Serves on various committees of the facility (i.e., Infection Control, Quality Assurance & Assessment, etc.) and provides written/oral reports of such committee meetings to the governing board as directed or as may become necessary.
- Serves as primary contact with system Continuing Care Network.
- Assists in the recruitment and selection of competent department directors, supervisors, non-licensed staff, consultants, etc.
- Consult with department directors concerning the operation of their departments to assist in eliminating and correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services.
- Assist the Medical Director in the development and implementation of medical and nursing services policies and procedures and professional standards of practice.
- Ensures that all facility personnel, residents, visitors, etc., follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
- Prepares an annual operating budget for approval by the governing board and allocate the resources to carry out programs and activities of the facility.
- Engages in continuing education to further knowledge of profession and maintain LNHA credentials and licensure.
