Minimum Qualifications
Age Requirement:
All employees must be at least 20 years of age.
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required from an accredited college or university
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure/Certification
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas
Valid driver’s license required
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of prior experience or training in psychiatric nursing
Preferred Experience/Skills
More than two (2) years of supervisory experience overseeing registered nurses providing psychiatric patient care
Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and electronic medication administration records
Position Summary
The Nursing Supervisor serves as the liaison between the Nursing Department and senior hospital leadership to enhance, improve, and innovate clinical programs. This role ensures the comfort and safety of patients and families in accordance with hospital policies, psychiatric residential treatment policies, and all applicable legal and regulatory standards.
The Nursing Supervisor establishes standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the Kansas State Board of Nursing, the State of Kansas, and KVC Health Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Additional duties may be assigned based on qualifications and program development needs.
Provide respectful, inclusive leadership to nursing staff
Demonstrate respect toward colleagues and community stakeholders
Oversee nursing operations and medication administration services for inpatient and/or residential patients
Participate in the administrative on-call rotation
Oversee nurse scheduling
Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, interview, and hire nursing staff
Train new employees in accordance with KVC standards and state contract requirements
Coordinate pharmacy services and serve as liaison with contract pharmacy
Review and evaluate clinical reports completed by nursing personnel
Participate in infection control committee and surveillance activities
Ensure compliance with standards set by The Joint Commission, Kansas Board of Nursing, and other regulatory bodies
Ensure timeliness and quality of documentation and reporting
Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures
Maintain proficiency with KVC technology systems, including EMR and HRIS
Oversee in-service training and ensure completion of required training hours
Assist physicians in educating patients and guardians regarding medication effects and side effects
Provide accurate updates regarding patient progress to the treatment team
Participate in treatment team decision-making
Supervise special treatment procedures delivered to patients
