Job descriptionConduct and oversee substance abuse evaluations to ensure accurate assessments and appropriate treatment plans. Monitor group therapy, individual counseling, aftercare, and educational programs for effectiveness and consistency. Ensure proper documentation of client participation, progress, and treatment outcomes. Develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies, community partners, and criminal justice members . Attend conferences, training, and community meetings to stay current with best practices in addiction treatment. Represent the organization in community outreach efforts, advocacy initiatives, and professional networks . Ensure timely and accurate completion of reports, records, and operational documentation. Address staffing challenges, client concerms, operational function, and clinical priorities as needed Master’s degree preferred (or Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience) in social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or related field. Minimum 3 years in addiction treatment, with at least 2 years in leadership role. Must hold or be eligible for ACT, CAC, or LAC certification in South Dakota. MRT and / or CBISA certification preferred. Master's Level Licensure preferred (Bachelor with extensive experience considred). Valid driver's license required.

Summary :
The Director of Mental Health is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based substance use treatment programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, and leading a team of outpatient counselors.
This role requires supervision of staff, providing therapy to children and young adults (primarily those involved with the justice system or recovering from substance dependency), and ensuring that services are delivered with compassion, professionalism, and adherence to best practices. The Director must demonstrate expertise in ASAM Criteria, treatment planning, and supervision, while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
