Department Occupational Therapy College Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions Campus Atlanta Position Type Full Time Faculty Posting Type Internal / External About the Department The occupational therapy doctorate program ranked No. 1 among public universities in Georgia and is nationally recognized for its research, teaching, and international engagement. Innovative research, student success, place making, identity, and belongings are pillars of the program. The occupational therapy department is housed in the Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions that fosters collaborative, and inter-professional academic activity. The department offers an excellent opportunity to be engaged in nationally funded research that pushes the frontier of health in improving the quality of life for people and populations within the community, state, nation, and the world. Besides the OTD program, opportunity exists to teach in the Ph.D. of health sciences program with an occupational therapy track. Position Description The Department of Occupational Therapy at Georgia State University's Byrdine Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Faculty position within the entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program. This is a full-time, nine-month term position, with the possibility of summer appointments depending on course availability.
Position Duties :
- Deliver direct instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, as well as hold office hours as assigned. Utilize both online and traditional teaching methods.
- Engage in indirect teaching activities such as student selection, advisement, recruitment, and retention for the OTD program.
- Participate in professional development activities, including seminars and workshops, to stay current with occupational therapy practices.
- Manage teaching assignments in alignment with the workload expectations of a non-tenure track faculty member within the Department and College.
- Adhere to University, College, and Department policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of the program curriculum.
- Assess student performance, maintain accurate records of progress, and submit final grade rosters following program and university guidelines.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Chair of the OT department.
Required Experience Minimum two years Occupational therapy experience in adult, physical disability, assistive technology and / or mental health / community practice. Required Education Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (e.g., OTD, PhD, DHS, DrOT), or a related field, at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience Experience teaching at the post-secondary level. Familiarity with educational theory and methodology. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong oral and written communication skills, along with organizational and technological proficiency. Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations, etc Certification as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), and eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Georgia at the time of appointment.
