Job description

The Clinical Onboarding RN is a key contributor in the establishment and launch of new clinical sites, serving as an extension of the Clinical Onboarding Director. This role is integral in the setup of infusion suites, ensuring that each new site adheres to national and company standards and guidelines. The Clinical Onboarding RN is pivotal in onboarding, orienting, and precepting new hires, fostering an environment of excellence from day one. As a leader and mentor, this position supports the infusion suite staff in delivering exceptional clinical care, while working closely with the Clinical Onboarding Director to streamline site operations and facilitate smooth transitions. The Clinical Onboarding RN takes a proactive approach to client satisfaction, patient care, operational efficiency, and inter-professional collaboration. This role is focused on pioneering new beginnings, ensuring professional development, and upholding the highest standards of infusion nursing practice across newly established sites.

Standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Performs direct care responsibilities consistent with RN Senior for the role as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Assists the Onboarding Director in onboarding new sites and site management.

Assists with physical site set up.

Assists with new RN and PSC onboarding and ongoing / follow up training.

Infuses / covers vacancies at new sites nationally by traveling overnight and by air.

Assists with EMR (PerpDb) tasks for new sites.

Participates in customer meetings.

Works in conjunction with Clinical Onboarding Associate

Follows company procedures for booking travel and lodging

Completes expense reports timely and accurately

Assists with the review and revision of clinical policies and procedures

Assists in completing site audits

Assists in wind-down activities

Plans, implements, coordinates, evaluates and promotes the continuity of care consistent with established standards of practice.

Assesses health status by interviewing patient regarding current symptoms and medical history.

Collects and records focused nursing assessment and interventions accurately and timely in the EMR.

Recognizes changes in patient condition and intervenes appropriately.

Reviews and reports the results of the health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data,

radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider.

Assesses patient / family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.

Provides psychosocial support to patients and families.

Maintains patient confidentiality

Submits all required documentation to obtain authorizations for therapies.

Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.

Administers all medications according to the physician’s order, prescribing information and protocol.

Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.

Facilitates drug administration by assessing patient, pertinent labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and,

problems and symptom management.

Obtains Peripheral IV and / or CVAD access / de-access per protocol.

Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.

Utilizes knowledge and resources regarding reimbursement procedures.

Maintains neat and orderly infusion suite

Orders and restocks office and medical supplies as needed

Follows OSHA guidelines when handling biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with blood borne pathogen.

Maintains all disinfection protocols

Maintains equipment according to quality control standards

Facilitates clinical operations and patient care.

Facilitates and schedules patient appointments.

Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.

As necessary, facilitates communication between patient / family and provider.

Appropriately orders specialty and free drug.

Maintains clinic schedule and ensures adequate staffing

Remains up to date on all emails and department communications.

Inter-professional collaboration.

Acts as a resource to LPN / LVNs, medical assistants and administrative assistants.

Acts as preceptor to newly hired nurses actively participating in the preceptor professional development courses.

Acts as a field resource to Clinical Services Leadership.

Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of infusion nursing.

Completes all required education assignments.

Participates in clinical department and preceptor meetings as needed.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.

RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.

Certification

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or American Red Cross healthcare provider hands on course) Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Critical Skills

2+ years nursing experience, including at least one year in infusion therapy preferred.

One year of supervisory or nursing leadership experience preferred.

Additional Skills

Leadership skills / effective communication

Infusion certifications, such as CRNI, IgCN, MSCN, etc. preferred
