DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT :
This is a non-exempt, part-time, seasonal position. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator provides aqua dance fitness instruction, monitors, educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants. Work is performed in a swimming pool environment.
This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It's not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the functions and tasks required of the position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Teaches scheduled water fitness classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down.
- Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises.
- Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts (if needed) for each class.

City of Pueblo Temporary and Seasonal Employee Sick Leave Benefits
Beginning January 1, 2021, all employers in Colorado are required to provide paid sick leave to employees under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA). Said leave is accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
Per the Act, leave may be used for any of the following reasons :
The employee needs to care for a family member who has a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; needs a medical diagnosis, care, or treatment related to such illness, injury, or condition; or needs to obtain preventive medical care.
The employee or family member has been the victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or harassment and needs to be absent from work for purposes related to such crime; or
A public official has ordered the closure of the school or place of care of the employee's child or of the employee's place of business due to a public health emergency, necessitating the employee's absence from work.
Consistent with the HWFA, part-time temporary and seasonal employees of the City shall not carry forward more than forty-eight (48) hours of unused sick leave from one year to the next.

City employment as a temporary or seasonal employee means that the most you can expect to work is 1300 hours in a calendar year. Depending on the work schedule required by the hiring department, this means more time to spend with your family and / or doing other activities.
