Position Summary
The Student – Tutor-Writing position works in the Writing Center to provide academic writing support to their Stevenson University undergraduate peers. Primary responsibilities include meeting with students in one-on-one sessions, offering support at various stages of the writing process, and participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities. Education / Experience Currently enrolled at Stevenson University and in good academic and judicial standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preferred that students successfully complete ENG 222 with a grade of B or higher. Students may be considered without ENG 222 upon approval by the Director of the Writing Center. Knowledge / Skills / Ability
- Demonstrate strong writing and communication skills.
- Exhibit competency and enthusiasm for writing and collaboration.
- Tutors must be attentive and sensitive to students’ needs and learning goals.
- Show commitment to the students.
- Show a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Must demonstrate reliability by attending all scheduled sessions or communicating in advance of any cancellations.
- Inform the Link staff of any questions or concerns in dealing with tutees.
- Must maintain confidentiality regarding student work and academic progress.
Physical Requirements Light work : including the following physical activities : stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, operate a computer, calculator, printer, and whiteboard, communicate and exchange accurate information and ideas so others will understand, observe and inspect details at close range.
