Job Summary
The Program Manager for Research will oversee the complete lifecycle of assigned complex research-related projects that support the vision and goals of the Research Department and align with the mission of the Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine. They will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams on specific projects to ensure successful delivery of these projects on time, within budget, and according to scope, by managing resources, timelines, risks, and stakeholder expectations. The Program Manager for Research will enhance the work responsibilities of the Associate Dean for Research and Senior Director of Biomedical Research, by providing strategic guidance and expert program management of various key initiatives and ongoing management of others. Initial programs will include developing an academic medical center, establishment of the Office of Technology Transfer, assisting in the ongoing development of the Office of Sponsored Programs, and assisting in the expansion of the current research laboratory and research vivarium. Additionally, they will provide ongoing management support for a variety of internal research functions including (but not limited to), IRB, IACUC, and IBC.
Responsibilities
- Program Project Planning and Execution
Develop detailed project plans
Define project scope, timelines, objectives, milestones
Utilize project management tools such as Microsoft Planner, MS Project, Asana, or Trello to ensure efficient project tracking and data management.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including but not limited to IRB, IACUC records, reports, research data, BSL-2 lab, and vivarium governance records.
Serve as the main point of contact for the Associate Dean for Research and other departmental stakeholders regarding assigned research projects. Support the Associate Dean for Research and Senior Director of Biomedical Research in decision-making processes related to departmental priorities.
Ensure assigned projects adhere to all institutional, regulatory, and legal guidelines.
Project Personnel Management
Coordinate personnel resources across departments and external partners, ensuring that research projects are adequately staffed (including those related to the BSL-2 lab and vivarium).
Manage budgets for assigned research-related initiatives, including symposia, hackathons, the BSL-2 laboratory, vivarium, and data management systems.
Oversee the implementation and management of data governance and management systems for the BSL-2 research laboratory, vivarium, and the academic medical center. Ensures practices comply with Noorda-COM Data Governance policies.
Oversee committee workflows to ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards. Initial committee oversight will include the IRB and IACUC committees.
