Job descriptionPerform the duties of an ophthalmic technician as well as : Perform ophthalmic test and procedures with proficiency in the ophthalmic sub-specialties. Coordinate follow-up care of patients. Assist in training and coordinating the work of ophthalmic assistants and technicians and interns. Participate in research studies. Actively assist in clinic workflow, scheduling of technicians, communicating delays to patients. Onboarding of new employees. Other duties as directed by supervisor. Provide exceptional patient service. Assist in clinical procedures. Graduation from high school Successful completion of Michigan Medicine's 12-week training program or some experience as an Ophthalmic Technician Respectful and compassionate attitude Able to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity Organized, able to maintain and coordinate multiple items. Excellent computer skills; proficient in data entry, analysis, graphing, Microsoft Office Familiarity with electronic equipment. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification required within one year Graduation from high school; Reasonable experience as an Ophthalmic Technician Reasonable experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology Respectful and compassionate attitude Able to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation.
