The candidate will join a team of optical engineers, analysts and experimentalists to support the design, development and utilization of advanced optical measurements systems to demonstrate and evaluate the performance of optical sensors. This will include design, assembly and testing of optical experiments and associated hardware, performing measurements in the laboratory and at field sites and analyzing collected data. Optical system components will include emission spectrometers, reflectance instrumentation systems that measure BRDF and MRDFs, in situ material characterization systems, a variety of integrating spheres and target manipulators, high temperature thermo-optical-structural characterization of IR materials and active optical sensors. In addition, the candidate will write software for the control and automation of these components and systems, and support efforts in data analysis and interpretation. Data analysis will include analysis of emissive and reflective spectra, reflectance data, signal-to-noise from image data, coherent and direct detection laser radar data, and atmospheric optical data. The work will combine the experimental results and independent development of modeling codes with collaborative analysis with Lincoln staff to define the specific experiments, analysis and modeling requirements. Work at field sites will be necessary on a periodic basis, as will laser safety certification.
Candidates must have :
- Optical system experimental hardware
- Data analysis and software including ZEMAX, SolidWorks or equivalents
- MATLAB
- Optical equipment in a laboratory setting
- Laser safety
Clearance :
Candidates must have an ACTIVE DoD clearance in order to be considered for this position.
Work location :
Hybrid - This individual would be required to be onsite 70% of the time. Final schedule TBD by hiring manager.
